About us

The sports most actively involved Bike and Tri store in the country.

Wheelworx Bike and Tri store opened its doors in 1998. Started as a family bike store by Rob Cummins it quickly became involved with the sport and Rob tried his hand at mountain biking before discovering road cycling.

In 2004 we became involved with and sponsored the Naas Wheelworx CTC and formed many friendships, this continues today and in 2006 we had our first racing group from the club.

Through our involvement with Naas Wheelworx CTC we have sponsored the Marie Keating charity ride in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and again in 2008. We are currently working with the cycling club on a number of new projects for 2009 including a brand new event. Details will follow later in the year.

Cycling and racing led to triathlon and in 2003 Rob made his entry into the world of swim bike run in 2003 in the Dublin Duathlon Series and the Dublin City Triathlon.

This has turned what was already close to obsession to complete addiction. Our involvement in the sport has mushroomed, after taking a year out in 2004 we returned in 2005 with our sponsorship of Pulse Triathlon Club, Rob did 12 triathlons and 4 duathlons alongside an ever growing group of friends.

For 2006 we were in involved with or sponsored the Wheelworx Dublin Duathlon Series, the 3Dtri Aquathlon series, the Bray Sprint Triathlon, the Wicklow 200, the Fingal Triathlon, Pulse Tri Clib, Belpark's Mud Sweat and Gears race series, the Kildare Triathlon, the Naas Cycling Club and the Naas Wheelworx Tri Club. We also sponsored the up and coming junior Colin Bolger.

This year we are continuing along the same lines by supporting all of the same events again.

In 2007 we also formed Team Wheelworx featuring Fernando Fuentes, 2006 Aquathlon series winner, Liam Dunne 2006 National Duathlon Champion, Trevor Woods who has raced at the highest level in both the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships and has been winning triathlons in Ireland for nearly 20 years, Art McManusa who was Junior cross country National Champion, Katherina Baldinger, and our newest member Elena Maslova, ex-Olympian and winner of numerous races for the last number of years. We also dipped our toe into the water of race organisation with the Naas Wheelworx Duathlon Series in Punchestown.

2008 saw an even more successful year with highlights including Tara Nolan setting a new Irish Ironman record, Elena winning the national sprint and 1/2 Ironman distance championships. Trevor Woods also won the 1/2 Ironman distance championships as well as a handful of wins in triathlon, sea swimming and cross country events. Kim Visby and Fernando added their results to take the team prize in Gromsport. Aileen Morrisson raced her first season of ITU races scoring 6th in both ITU Elite Athlone and Brno ITU Elite International Triathlon. Kim Visby placed 8th in Ironman Lanzarotte. Fernando Fuentes won the first running of the Beast of The East Triathlon in Wicklow. Katharina won the Dublin Duathlon series, Kilkee and placed 4th in IM70.3 UK as well as winning the Austrian Long Distance Duathlon National Championships. Liam Dunne won the Focus and Blackrock triathlons. With close to 50 wins and podiums in 2008 it was our most successful season to date.

Rob also took the plunge and completed his first Ironman in Nice, France and was so impressed with the event that he is going back for more and is planning on doing IM Zurich in July 2009.

2009 sees the addition of one of Ireland's top triathletes, Brian Campbell. Brian will pull on the orange and blue kit and join the most successful Irish triathlon squad ever.

We are committed to growing the sport's of cycling and triathlon and hope to be involved for as long as I can turn a pedal, we will continue to support events, clubs and individuals realise their sporting dreams, whether that is completing their 1st 100k or an Ironman Triathlon.
